My Approach
A modern style of portraiture that captures children as they truly are: candid, emotional, and full of personality, rather than posed and stiff. Less about a perfect smile, more about a real moment.
That is the work I make in Kansas City. Portraits you will treasure not because they are flawless, but because they are true.
I'm a Kansas City photographer who has spent more than twenty years chasing the moments that matter, the real ones. The half-second a toddler forgets the camera is there. The way an older sister wraps up a younger one without being asked.
I'm not a studio with a checklist. I photograph families, children, newborns, and seniors the way a neighbor would: patiently, warmly, and with a genuine love for the people in front of my lens. The work really comes down to a few simple things done well: good light, honest composition, and the patience to wait for a real moment instead of forcing a pose. It's all real. Nothing here is generated or pieced together on a screen, just your family in honest light, exactly as they were that day. What I care about is that years from now, you look at the picture and feel exactly what that day felt like.
If that's the kind of portrait you're after, I'd love to meet you.
Most family pictures happen once a year, if that. You book the session, plan the outfits, get everyone to a location, and hope the kids cooperate. I would rather be the photographer who is simply around.
Start at whatever age your family is now and let me keep showing up as your kids grow. A full session when you want one, or an everyday session when you don't, just fifteen minutes at a birthday or an ordinary afternoon.
The best frames are usually the ones nobody planned, and they add up. Years from now you won't have one portrait from each stage. You will have the whole story.
Tell me a little about your family and what you have in mind.
